About

Dr. Robert Guarino is a physician and breast pathologist with extensive training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and advanced specialization in breast disease. He currently serves as Director of Breast Pathology Services at Staten Island University Hospital–Northwell Health, where he works as part of a multidisciplinary breast care team. Raised in New Jersey, Dr. Guarino graduated near the top of his high school class before attending Rutgers University in New Brunswick on a lacrosse scholarship. He earned his medical degree from UMDNJ–New Jersey Medical School, now Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, and completed a four-year pathology residency at RWJ/St. Barnabas Medical Center, serving as Chief Resident during his third and fourth years. He later completed fellowships in oncologic pathology and breast pathology at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Guarino is committed to medical education. He teaches resident physicians and serves as an assistant professor educating second-year medical students in pathology. His professional philosophy emphasizes diagnostic expertise, continuing education, collaboration, and improving outcomes for patients facing breast disease.
